If you’re new to the industry, or prefer the structure of working with an established advisor group, you may choose to start as an employee financial advisor.

If you start as an employee financial advisor, you have choices in how you begin. You can be hired immediately as a pre-client ready advisor, and study for licenses as part of your initial training. Or you can study for licenses on your own while you retain your current job, and receive a hiring bonus. When you come on as a pre-client ready advisor you will complete the final six weeks of training.

As a pre-client ready advisor you will receive a training wage. This initial training phase may involve longer hours, for which you will be paid overtime.

Once you are appointed as an employee advisor, you are paid a draw, with opportunity for Gross Dealer Concession (GDC) bonuses. There will be long hours and lower pay at first as you build your practice, but there is significant income potiental and opportunities for successful advisors - including the opportunity to become an independent financial advisor.

If you already have industry experience, appropriate licenses, and meet requirements, you may opt to become an independent financial advisor immediately - running a franchise on your own. When you start out, we’ll provide your orientation. You’ll receive a competitive GDC payout and the flexibility to manage your own expenses as you build equity in your practice.

Plus, you’ll have the strength and reputation of the American Express brand behind you. You’ll have support from you’re management team and access to our proven business methods and systems to help you build up equity in your practice - should you choose to sell it later. In short, you’ll have freedom to operate and build up your practice the way you want. But your career options don’t end there. You’ll also have the opportunity to develop a market niche or specialty, or follow a management path in field or corporate leadership. You’re in control.
